Visiting Assistant Professor - Film Studies
Description
The Department of Art, Art History, and Film at Boston College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Film Studies, with a specialization in film production, beginning August 1, 2026. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.
The teaching load is three courses per semester and will include foundational courses in film studies and film production, as well as upper-level courses in the candidate鈥檚 area of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an existing upper-level course in film directing in Fall 2026.
The expected 9-month base聽 salary range (paid over 11 months the first year and over 12 months thereafter) for this position is $76,000-80,000. The actual pay offered聽 to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and聽 market considerations.
Qualifications
MFA in Film Studies / Cinema Studies or related fields at the start of the appointment.
