Samira is an accomplished Arabic language educator with over 20 years of experience teaching in higher education institutions in both the U.S. and Syria, as well as 11 years with the United Nations鈥 education program. She specializes in Arabic instruction for both heritage and non-native speakers, with a strong foundation in Arabic literature and linguistics.
She earned her B.A. in Arabic Language and Literature and M.Ed. in Language Education from Damascus University, and later received Academic Arabic Teacher Certification from Boston University. Samira is also an ILR OPI-Certified Tester for Levantine Arabic, with extensive proficiency testing experience in both Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine dialects through ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages).
Samira鈥檚 teaching career includes significant work with the United Nations education program in Damascus, where she delivered Arabic instruction to diverse student populations. She is skilled in designing and implementing culturally responsive curricula, including modules in human rights education, and has served as a Human Rights Curriculum Coordinator & Developer, integrating language learning with global citizenship education.
In 2007, she received the Play Award for her work Tears of the Yellow Color as both playwright and director, presented by the United Nations Directorate of Education in partnership with the European Union.
Samira believes that the pursuit of knowledge is an endless journey. With AI transforming the world around us, she emphasizes the importance of continuous learning to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing global landscape.
